ABOUT G2G KARATE

BEHIND THE BELT

Chief Instructor, Julia Heenan, began her journey over 20 years ago when she began her teaching career. The passion she had then for the art of karate has stayed with her and is a trait that is passed on to all G2G instructors.

We as a club have continued to grow and develop and pride ourselves on embracing knowledge and new ideas. We promote integrity, diligence, perseverance and discipline and believe these are the traits that will help our students not just through their training but also throughout their life.

We hope that all our students will come to look on us as a second family...their karate family.

Our club is more than just competitions. However, for those students with a competitive nature we have a very well-structured system, and in addition to inter-club competitions, we regularly take squads to national and international competitions under both WUKF and WKF rules.

WHO WE ARE

Our instructors are highly trained and experienced. Each and every one of them is first aid trained, DBS-checked and are highly disciplined and different in the way they teach.

  • Students should display control and courtesy to all involved.
  • Students should ensure that their decisions and actions contribute to a safe and harassment-free environment.
  • As with all physical activity students have a responsibility to ensure they consult their doctor for advice before undertaking training. This is particularly important where an injury or current medical condition is present.
  • Students should remove all jewellery or watches before training.
  • Students should ensure they are wearing appropriate attire and using appropriate protective equipment when training.

  • Parents and spectators have a responsibility to encourage all children to participate and/or compete according to the rules and with the boundaries of general karate etiquette.
  • Parents and spectators have a responsibility to adopt appropriate behaviours in all G2G Karate training locations.
  • Parents and spectators must be aware that cameras and video are to be for private use only. No images of young people are to be published onto any webpage or printed material without parental consent.

WHERE TO GO IF YOU ARE CONCERNED

G2G recognises that karate should be a safe place for children to have fun, develop skills, learn valuable lessons and to build character. While karate remains a positive experience for most children, G2G recognises that children and young people can be adversely affected by the behaviour of others.

If you have any concerns, either about your child or other children, or about the behaviour of a G2G Karate instructor or official, there are a number of things you could do:

  • Talk to G2G instructor. The contact details can be obtained at www.g2gkarate.co.uk/classes
  • If you are still concerned, contact the G2G Safeguarding Officer: Lucy Goodman, Email: lulugoodman_17@hotmail.com, Phone: 07842 625160
  • For serious issues, such as sexual abuse or harassment contact your local Police Station.
